Teacher, pass!

I'm feeling so-so today. I was a little pissed off with my one-on-one Korean student. He was not cooperative today. No matter how I tried to encourage him to speak up, but he still didn't want to. I really made an effort to make the lesson simpler. Oh my! HIs favorite expression is 'pass'. As a practice after I discussed the lesson, I asked him to answer 'do you have a camera?'. Then he just said, 'pass...simple'. When I urged him a little harder (with a tinge of gentleness), he finally answered 'yes, I am'. Stop! Did I hear it right or did I?

So much for this, I was glad to talk to my first Telephone English student this afternoon. Among my Korean students, I regarded him as my pet. He is only ten years old but he can read well some common English words. And even if he's still young, you hardly can recognize his nationality if he speaks because he already have an American English accent already. I am very proud of him.

English is difficult

Anyeong!!! I finally met my student yesterday. He is a shy type of person. I think it's just natural for two people to be awkard to each other the first time they meet. Maybe it is due to the fact that we both came from different countries or maybe because we are just different. Let's just think it that way.

I have found out through our conversation that he only enrolled for two hours in our academy. According to him learning English is expensive and difficult. But I think everybody should not think it that way, because if you do you really find learning English hard to do.

Miss them

Hi, I'm at work now. I was not able to talk to my Korean students yesterday because it was Sunday but I wish I could. I missed them yesterday but now no more because I've got to talk to them already. Oh my, there is some sort of a relationship built with me and my dear Korean students. They're like my real-blood children. Here I am again, I'll be a mother-teacher to them as usual. another journey to take with my new Korean student

Hi. Good morning. I couldn't sleep. Maybe this is due to a nap I took yesterday afternoon. You know what, my boss asked me yesterday that I'll be having a new one on one class with a new Korean student. I was about to refuse but she said that the student just enrolled for a month only, so I had no choice but to say 'yes'. Or maybe I had a choice but set that aside for some personal reasons I can't divulge. Here's a little problem, my boss requested me to report to the office an hour earlier my regular working hours. Oh no! I've got to change my usual waking hours. Is it a problem? Or maybe it's just me who make it as such? I've got to be in the office one hour before the time. I have to stick that in mind, no matter what.

An upcoming challenge is I'm going to experience. Do you want to know why? It's because I'll be teaching a male Korean student. Another 'oh no' again. Teaching English to male Korean students is a little bit challenging to me because they're hard to manage.

Anyway, a teacher should be a teacher. What else can I be? I choose this profession. So I must do the math.

Seeing things in a better perspective, I think is the proper thing to do. I got to know another Korean, another student, and above all another person. That's the best part of being an English Teacher of Korean students, you keep on meeting different personalities. Tomorrow is another journey to take with my new Korean student. Tomorrow is another chance to know another person to take care of. Bye!

hi. I'm taking a break from work. I can't explain why I'm happy today but definitely I am. This morning, I had a good time. It's either because I've been to a place (7,107 CRUISE SHIP-Pier 6, Manila) which I never had before or is it because I simply spent my time with my special someone. But on my way to work my headache just emerged. A terrible headache, that's what they call it. Shocks!!! I blamed it to a very hot weather. Oh summer, I hate you! Hoping to ease the pain, I massaged my forehead from time to time. And yes, I felt a little better. Have to go back to work. Catch you later...
